WHAT IS THE
HOME EFFICIENCY REBATE+

Home Efficiency Rebate+ & Grant (HER+) Program Has Improved!

Rebates have increased! You could be eligible for up to $10,600 for your home windows in rebates and a $40,000 (ten-year) interest-free loan. Learn more below.

The Home Efficiency Rebate Plus program combines the Federal Greener Homes Grant and the Provincial Home Efficiency Rebate into one, easy-to-access application for Ontario homeowners. Eligible participants can receive up to $10,600 in rebates for energy-efficient upgrades to their homes, including replacement windows and doors!

As of January 1, 2023, Ontario homeowners must apply to the Home Efficiency Rebate Plus program to access the Canada Greener Homes Grant.

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE HOME EFFICIENCY REBATE+

To qualify for the Home Efficiency Rebate Plus, your home will need to be assessed for energy efficiency before and after the installation of new windows or doors.

  • Have an energy assessment done before doing any upgrades.
  • At the time of the assessment, tell your Energy Advisor that you’d like to apply to the Home Efficiency Rebate Plus program. Your energy advisor will start your application.
  • Get us to replace your windows and doors.
  • Have another energy assessment done after the upgrades.
  • Submit any required documentation to your Energy Advisor. They will complete your application and submit it to Enbridge Gas.

  • Receive your rebate cheque!

ADDITIONAL RULES ABOUT HOME EFFICIENCY REBATE+ PROGRAM

In order to qualify and use this program, there are certain eligibility requirements that must be met. In addition, there are some steps and actions that must be followed to complete the window and door installation successfully. These rules include:

    • You must be a resident in Ontario
    • Own and reside in the home you wish to upgrade
    • That home must be heated by natural gas
    • All windows and doors must be purchased
    • If the window or door units are purchased online, it must be through an online Canadian distributor
    • You must upgrade using specific models on the list above
    • Keep the EnergyStar certification labels on your new window and door units until after your post-evaluation assessment
